Our globetrotter PM has many important issues to deal with; getting a marriage certificate is surely not one of them.

Because not having a certificate of marriage is not hampering his honeymoon travels across the globe, they are affecting only his estranged wife Jashodaben.

According to multiple reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's estranged wife Jashodaben Modi has been denied a passport.

Before you go ahead and name it a conspiracy, let us tell you that The regional passport officer ZA Khan told The Hindu that the application was incomplete and therefore it was not accepted.

"We have not accepted the application because there was no marriage certificate or a joint affidavit with the spouse," Mr. Khan said, adding, "marriage certificate or a joint affidavit is a required document to get the passport."

Jashodaben was married to Narendra Modi in 1968 but they have been separated for decades now. Jashodaben, a retired school teacher, now lives with her brother in rural North Gujarat. In fact, many people thought that Modiji was a bachelor.

jashodabven is modi wife

Anyhow, in his election affidavit filed during the parliamentary elections in 2014, Modiji had mentioned Jashodaben's name as his spouse. And this led to her getting some protection after his landslide victory last year.

Current  rules do require married women to furnish a marriage certificate or relevant proof  of matrimony  but in 1968, marriages were not always registered. Though we don't think PM will interfere in this and that she will have to take legal route to get her passport; it sure looks bad for India that our PM's wife is struggling for a passport.

We wish that she can get one soon and visit hr friends in US soon.
